At ITEK, we’re committed to sustainability, and our ECOGUIDE product line is a testament to that dedication. Launched in 2020, ECOGUIDE represents our shift toward using renewable and eco-friendly materials in place of traditional aluminum, significantly reducing our environmental impact.

Why Aluminum Isn’t Eco-Friendly

While aluminum is a commonly used material in signage due to its durability, its environmental impact is considerable. The extraction and processing of aluminum are highly energy-intensive, requiring large amounts of electricity, often derived from non-renewable sources. Additionally, the process releases significant amounts of greenhouse gases, contributing to global warming. Although aluminum can be recycled, the recycling process itself still consumes a substantial amount of energy, making it less sustainable than natural alternatives.

Materials Matter

ECOGUIDE signs are crafted from bamboo and Accoya, two of the most sustainable and forward-thinking materials available.

Bamboo, the fastest-growing plant in the world, is a renewable resource that meets our high standards for durability, safety, and strength. Not only is bamboo incredibly resilient, but it’s also a major carbon sink, capturing CO2 from the atmosphere. It’s grown in environmentally friendly, certified plantations, ensuring sustainability from the ground up.

Accoya® – The wood of the future

Accoya®, known as „the wood of the future,“ comes from responsibly managed forests and offers exceptional durability and environmental benefits. By choosing Accoya, we contribute to renewable solutions for global environmental challenges like climate change. Forests, in turn, play a key role in absorbing CO2, further enhancing the eco-friendliness of our products.

The difference in CO2 impact between traditional aluminum signs and our ECOGUIDE products is significant:

23,17Standard aluminum sign (480mm in diameter) has a carbon footprint of 23.17 kg CO2-eq.

3,15ECOGUIDE sign of the same size has a footprint of just 3.15 kg CO2-eq.
